|Hidden Cameras And Their Dangers

What is Hidden Camera?

Hidden camera (Spy Camera) is a photo or video recording device with a lens diameter of less than 1 mm and used to hide images of people without their knowledge, by hiding anywhere. "Hidden camera" is commonly used when people are not aware that it is being recorded, and often without their knowledge and consent. "Spy camera" is often used when the person would object to being recorded if they were aware of the camera's existence. By contrast, "safety cameras" refers to cameras that are visible and/or come with a warning notification of their presence. While hidden cameras can be used as security cameras, they can also be used for information theft, threats, blackmail and espionage.

"Hidden Cameras" or "Spy Cameras" used to be connected to a video recorder, but nowadays, as the technology has advanced quite a bit, they have turned into integrated systems that record inside themselves. In today's technology, it is now possible to record for hours or even days in MicroSD cards. Even today, it is possible to access the recordings from any point in the world, watch or reproduce all the images by using wi-fi technology and the internet.

|Where Are Hidden Cameras Found?

"Hidden Cameras" or "Spy Cameras" can be easily hidden inside objects of sufficient size, usually in the room. "Hidden Cameras" or "Spy Cameras", preferably with electrical connection, in the home or office environment for long-term recording, can be placed inside many commonly used objects such as television, air conditioner, smoke detector, motion detectors, artificial plants, music system, lamp, clock, printer, two-way mirror.

Generally, when placing these devices, it is difficult to apply in the environment where the device to be placed, and after the application is made outside the object, it is replaced with another device in the office or at home. Battery operated versions are also available. Battery-operated types can also be placed inside the clothes or objects we wear, such as hats, ties, belts, collar pins, shirt or coat buttons, glasses, ballpoint pens, brooches. This type of camera is generally used for commercial espionage.

Are Hidden Cameras Dangerous?

"Hidden Cameras" or "Spy Cameras" can be used for home surveillance or nanny surveillance, as well as for espionage or blackmail. The development of technology, the low production costs of the devices and their easy accessibility have increased the use of such devices, and the number of people who use them just for fun has increased considerably. Unfortunately, devices that carry a great risk due to use can easily enter our private lives, and they are a great danger for the security and privacy of our personal lives. Of course, the safety of our children or the safety of our elders is very important, at this point the use of hidden cameras is on a very fine line. The use of hidden cameras can cause privacy issues and may be a legal matter for judicial consideration based on the complaint when use occurs.

How to Detect Spy Cameras?

"Hidden Cameras" or "Spy Cameras" are very difficult to detect because they are so small and hidden. There are a number of technical devices to detect hidden cameras that are almost impossible to see with the naked eye. The working principle of these technical devices is based on sending light to the environment you observe with a high lumen LED and detecting the reflection back from the lens of the camera. The high light is reflected back from the lens and the location of this reflected light is determined from the observation hole of the device. It is possible to detect whether the camera is working or not, since the detection device works optically and visually, it will not change a thing whether the hidden camera works or not.
